Wellness Lectures with Guest Facilitator, Johanna Smith-Ellis, M.Ed.

Johanna Smith Ellis is a Psychologist and Mental Health Counselor in private practice. She has worked in a variety of settings. Johanna taught college level psychology for over 15 years. She has worked in schools, mental health facilities, residential treatment programs, and outpatient addiction services. Her special interests include depression, anxiety, and binge eating disorders. Johanna will be available for Individual Consultations April 18th-27th.

Mindfulness Basics with Guest Facilitator, Dr. Toni Nixon, Ed.D.

Dr. Toni Nixon is a certified health and wellness coach/consultant and mindfulness trainer and has been an educator and psycotherapist for over 35 years. She completed a professional training program in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School under the direction of Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD. and received additional training at the Centre for Mindfulness, Research and Practice at the University of Wales.

Learn basic mindfulness techniques to help you skillfully navigate daily life and support new healthy behaviors. Mindfulness is simply about learning to live in the present rather than dwelling in the past or anticipating the future. Learning to become more mindful increases your ability to relax, experience greater calm, improve health and well being and enjoy life more fully. You’ll learn simple techniques that will help you relax your body and calm your mind. Through discussion and practice exercises, you’ll have the opportunity to apply basic mindfulness meditations to your activities to create and sustain a healthy lifestyle. This program is based on the course developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

Wellness Lectures with Guest Facilitator Susan Moschos, Ph.D, NCSP

Susan Moschos is a Licensed Psychologist who is in private practice.  As a former special education teacher and current psychologist, she has worked in a variety of settings including hospital, school, and outpatient clinics.  Dr. Moschos has had a lifelong interest in health, wellness, and exercise and she is an experienced group exercise instructor and ultramarathon runner.  She has special interests in neurodevelopmental disabilities, cognitive and dialectical behavior therapy, animal assisted therapy, and the application of psychology for lifelong health and wellness.  Dr. Susan Moschos will be visiting Hilton Head Health and available for individual consultations May 16th-20th.
